When is the panda cam live?

The Smithsonian says its live feed runs daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Eastern Time. Outside those hours, the page switches to a recorded view of the previous 12 hours.

What you may see

Giant pandas spend much of their day eating bamboo, resting, exploring their habitat, and interacting with enrichment provided by their keepers. Bao Li and Qing Bao live separately, as adult giant pandas usually do, and the zoo rotates them between neighboring habitats.

How to tell the two pandas apart

Bao Li has wider eye patches with more pointed outer tips. Qing Bao has fluffier cheeks and distinctive dark markings on her left hip.
